Does this green being's race typically keep sapient species as pets? Does this count as a sort of passive slavery?

Actually, in the story I thought up for this (which still only exists as ideas in my head and not yet in any written form), the human girl was illegally obtained by alien traders with little respect for laws and such. The alien girl doesn't at first understand her pet is sapient but comes to figure it out with help from an adult vet (of the same species as the alien girl). The story would then be about trying to get the human girl to be able to get back home, and trying to expose the crimes of the alien traders.
Or something like that. As I said, this is only based on some ideas I've had for quite a while now but not really made anything out of.

No human being- even a professional contortionist- can bend their body in such a manner.

Hehe. ^^
Yeah, I've always tried to make my aliens as unhumanoid as possible. After all, evolution can go down countless paths.
The vast differences in the characters appearances will also be an important factor in the story. Basically the alien girl does not have any reason at first for thinking her tiny strange looking bipedal pet is a sapient being, but comes to figure it out due to things such as the "pet's" behaviours and such.

Cool idea, although the girl's legs look a bit off.
