Struck by a bug I couldnae strike down. This is Therem Harth rem ir Estraven. He is a Gethenian, from a planet also known as "Winter." Estraven is a character in the novel The Left Hand of Darkness. This sketch, however, is simply how I perceive Estraven to look like. The Left Hand of Darkness is written by Ursula K. LeGuin, who also happens to be one of my favorite authors of all time.... seriously.

It's been exciting me that Sci-Fi plans on creating the Earthsea miniseries, and although I've heard some negative things about it.... such as the main character Ged being played by a blatantly white man rather than the dark Gontish man that he is.... I am still looking forward to it, for I see it a beautiful way to see my fave characters move... their a bit more alive... and I can always interpret how they should be in my own mind. ^_~ (Can't wait to see the pretty graphics! *__________*)

Anyway, back to Estraven. Throughout the entire novel, he captivated me, held me enthrall. In fact, he held my attention more then the main character, Genly Ai, did. The strange fuzzy things around his legs are supposed to be upper-thigh leg warmers...... meh... X_x Gethen is a planet of snow and ice. It's in its ice-age at the time of the story. And although it's cold there, the Gethenians don't tend to be as cold as the normal Terran. Normally, with the outfit I have him in, he'd be wearing long sleeves... but somehow I liked the outfit more like it ish, oi vey. ; Afterall, it's my interpretation, ne ne?

I'm VERY proud of this sketch. It will be moved to the scraps later because it IS just a sketch.... but I honestly didn't want it to go so much un-noticed.
