Description
Rosie, Brianna and Toni walk into an upscale nightclub. Toni distracted is the only one unimpressed with the high decor of the interior. Her friends, however, are stunned.Rosie: Oh, yes, I'm feeling good right about now.
Brianna: Toni, babe, we are gonna party your cares away! It's time to get lose!
Toni: God... It's been so long since I've had a good night out.
Brianna: Girl, this is what you need. Get a little booze in you... Get that beat into your head... You'll be back to old Toni in no time.
Rosie: ...And we miss old Toni.
Toni looks at them, surprised.
Toni: I'm right here. Just because I got marr-
Rosie: D-Do you hear something, Bri? I-I coulda swore I heard something that sounded like Toni.
Toni folds her arms and smirks.
Brianna: Nah, couldn't be. She's been gone for like what... Two years?
Toni nods her head.
Toni: O.k. I'll get the drinks.
Three men walk down a winding flight of stairs. Two dressed in suits, one in a dark blue turtleneck. He speaks.
Alphonso: So, everything's looking good tonight. We'll see if that holds up.
Man#1: Sure came through again Al. I owe ya one.
Alphonso: Don't sweat it. I was glad to help. Besides, this evens us out.
Man#2: Thought for sure we were gonna have to post pone opening the new level until at least next month, but look at this...
They step down to the club level. The place is bustling with activity. The three men proudly absorb the atmosphere.
Man#2: ...Brook Bridge is alive. I wonder if you'd be available this coming week, Al.
Alphonso: Can't. Got to many prior engagements. Can it wait another... Uh, month?
Man#1: Wow! That long?
Alphonso: 'Fraid so. I'm a busy man, guys.
Alphonso pauses as his eyes catch something. His associates notice.
Man#1: What...? (looks) ...Oh.
Man#2: What are you thinking?
Alphonso: You ever had that moment where... for some strange reason...
Toni stands at the bar talking to the bartender.
Alphonso: ...You knew... You were staring at your destiny?
Toni turns to her friends and points accusingly, playfully engaging in a cocky exchange as they tease her. Her eyes catch Alphonso's from across the room. She pauses.
Alphonso: (to himself)... Who are you?
Transfixed was a man helpless in the grip of distant, Illuminated countenance. The world became silent, the earth became still, the stars paled in comparison to a seductive aura of mystery. For brief as it might be... for but a moment, or forever... There were only two souls in the universe.
