In the 3rd Dynasty of the eastern diamond dog tribe, A great warrior known today as Granitefang; The Wood Tamer, became the only being in known history to mount the fearsome and wild timberwolf. For twenty years, Granitefang, upon his timberwolf steed, laid siege to many a pony village and collected many fine gems for his tribe, earning him the position of Supreme General. His reign would come to an end when he was finally defeated by the pony sun goddess. To this day, Granitefang is worshiped among the pantheon of spirits in the diamond dog faith.

Perhaps, but it would matters such knowing it's element(s). These creatures are mysterious; it's obvious plants and animals are opposite.
Let's talk action. If a timberwolf or a group of timberwolves start attacking, my guess for weapons of choice would be a flamethrower, a chainsaw, or an axe and lighter weapons would be a pair of hatchets or tomahawks. Note they're best against hard-surfaced wood.

I know, but I think knives won't stop timberwolves except a cleaver. Katana and other durable swords can cut them, and machine-guns can always come in handy and they can definently shoot them into mulch or splinter.
By the way, do you think they run on magic that gave them their plant-wolf forms?

Napalm is useful I guess, I heard they're sticky and burn hotter than gasoline; makes them very volatile and perhaps not easy to put out.
