On the surface, Matthieu is known for being a very idealistic and a flirtatious person. He will often praise himself for his fashion line as well as his looks. He also loves it when you compliment his hair, don't ask him why, it just boosts his ego a bit. Despite this, Matthieu has shown to be very loyal and caring if you are close to him. However, Matthieu really wonders if people only like him for his looks rather than his personality.

It is very hard, very very hard, to annoy or even upset Matthieu in the slighest. Unless you are insulting his work. If you were to do that, then he'd get easily depressed as he takes deep pride into his work. However, if he were feeling brave (which is rare since he is one to avoid conflicts of any kind), he'd carelessy fireback sarcastic comments until you left him alone. If something else were to come up, for example one of his favorite designs tearing, he'd automatically go into a depressive state and lock himself away before coming back out and fixing whatever happened.

He adores anything and anyone beautiful, even having the courage to flag down someone down the street if something different sparkled in them. To him at least.

His family is described as being quite a conservative family, a strange one. He was born and raised in the Kalos region, hence his heavy French accent. Matthieu lived with his mother throughout his life and developed a taste for feminine fashions, as he did not have a father figure growing up. His mother had divorced Matthieu's father because of him criticizing Matthieu for not being a "man", to which Matthieu still despises him because of that. Before his mother had died, she had given him a special scarf (see picture), which he still wears to this very day. Even though it may not go with many of his outfits. She had also handed over the family boutique to him when he was 18, which he hopes to pass along to his future children too. Since he only learned how to design mainly feminine clothing, the boutique is 99.9% filled with feminine clothing while the other percent is masculine clothing. Even so, he still tries to design something masculine.
