Mere slivers of void they were in the near-infinity of his essence, tiny scraps of nothing where something should be and yet they tore at the very fabric of him, demanding attention. Their silence screamed louder than their voices ever could, asking questions he had no answer to.

Souls didn't just vanish. But these had, and still he failed to find them while their absence ate at him, devouring him from the inside out.
