It's funny, I always assumed Fire-types can swim and be in water and all, as long as they know how to swim obviously. It's when its being used to attack them is when it's a problem.

Personally yeah, I've always figured that the reason water-type moves are dangerous to fire-types isn't the natural water-douse-flames thing, but also that it's being fired off at high velocity. You look at Blastoise, those things are like high-pressure cannon nozzles!
