Slave No More
In a place that could not be found on any map, a figure stood before a door. She was a beautiful and unearthly creature, silver-haired and sapphire-skinned, with a body so sensual and perfect that it might inspire poets and masters to despair at ever being able to convey her flawless form. Her posture was one of natural grace, a born performer used to commanding the stage of life, and about her there hummed a tangible aura of energy, an invisible force that was not so much seen as felt as a thrumming deep in the bones, a resonance in the soul. There was power here, a concentration of might so massive and potent that it could only be called magic.
Magic that could grant wishes, and work miracles, the kind of power that could twist minds and the very fabric of reality around its wielderβs finger. But her eyes showed neither cruelty nor madness, but a gently swirling compassion, a taste of her great empathy, and of the mighty heart that lay beyond all the beauty and mystery she show
Suechan is always a professional and a joy to work with, and she brought some real flair and verve to this piece, depicting one of Incredible's signature OCs, Naylee the Hypnodjinn, showing newborn genie Arella the ropes of what it means to be an omnipotent servant of cosmic balance. Of course essential parts of this paradigm includes half-lidded looks, harem-attire and the most sublime and sensual of dance. The design she created for Arella is perfect too, blending several references I provided into one harmonious whole.
It really is a lovely picture, and all I can offer to Suechan is my thanks, not just for the drawing, but for suggesting the title to go with the piece. Keep on rocking m'lady!

It's a really lovely piece and it shows that Sue had some fun with it. The design for Arella is pretty neat and I see some influences here that I think I recognize, but I'd be curious to see just who exactly you used as reference for this little creation of yours.

When Suechan asked for input on the new genie's design, this is what I replied with:
New Genie: (tentatively named Arella)
Skin color: Fair-skinned
Hair color: Medium-to-dark brown, glossy
Hair length/style: I'm thinking a shoulder-length bob or bangs, but with a high and long ponytail in back - feel free to explore
Eye color: Gold
Clothing description: Purple with gold metallic trim - sleek and sensual but also regal / empowering, something that states "I was once a slave but now I am a mighty genie who command the forces of nature!" - maybe a gold tiara or headband of some kind.
Pose: Mirroring Naylee's belly-dance (but with only two hands and no hypno-magic) - her power rising around her as she is taught 'Genie 101' by Naylee
Facial expression: Entranced by Naylee's magic, but not mindless - instead she's alert, attentive, excited and joyous as she comes to grips with her geniedom - a sense of growing self-confidence
Genie tail or legs: Half-and-half, legs dissolving into tail at or below the knee - tail is purple
Anything special: In terms of the asthetic I'm envisioning for Arella, I've included some links below to five of my favourite genie pieces on DA, together with my thoughts on each:
- I love this piece's posing and sense of vitality - the crown is also a nice idea. The glove/cuff design on the arms is also sleek and distinctive without feeling too alien from the classic genie 'look'
- I like how she's entranced but not mindless, and clearly aware of herself and her power
- There's a lovely lightness and grace about this piece - the jaunty feather in her bun is also kinda neat
- this is benchmark one for the hair/costume colour palette - this is also the kind of hairstyle I had in mind
- Benchmark two for hair/costume colour palette and hairstyle - the costume is also fantastic - I love how it is sensual but also feels royal - there's a clear strength on display

The final result ticked every box - confidence, regality, sleekness, and a touch of sassiness too!

Uh, that's actually not what I expected at all for the sources. When I looked at Arella, I had very strong "Bellena" vibes from the Dreamcast/Gamecube game Skies of Arcadia. See for yourself.
