Next:sOOO not too long ago I uploaded this, the 100 character meme with my novel series, Strong Hearts Are Mandatory.
after that I knew I really wanted to make everyone 2020 refs and theeeeeeeeen suddenly they were looking different from their original designs. These are the first 22 characters out of the 100 I want to have refs for and I hope to finish the rest sometime after I'm done with my semester but for now I wanted to share what I had! I tried to do mains first but it'll probably end up pretty varied as I go along. These are going to be all the characters that make appearances from Heart of Glass to Stars of the Silver Screen.

Back in 2013-2015 I had no idea what I was doing but I didn't wanna change their colors and stuck with them from 2016 and onward x'D Finally the Lore of Media book was coming up (my project after Stars of the Silver Screen) and I was like "man if I'm gonna change them I gotta change them now" So that way the Lore of Media book, the second editions of 1-3, and books 4-6 will all have the new designs! and of course, animated series. At first I wanted to wait until after book 3 was published since that features the 2016 designs, but I just wanna share them now since I already posted that image with Video and Stereo with Toast and have so many more plans on the way. So much to do!
Some changes aren't really all that big, I fixed a few markings on Pictures and changed Radio's collar color, for example. Video, Studio, and Stereo got pretty big revamps, but we'll see where the rest go! :'3c

I really like the new designs of your characters ! The aesthetic you put on their new design make them so pleasing to the eyes ! And they seem easier to draw :0

aaa im noticing a loada improvement, especially the colors. They feel so much warmer and vibrant compared to the older versions. My personal favorites are the brown tabbies since the colors with the tan and the violet browns really meshes well.
Edit: I just noticed Radio and Frequency having their lower eyelashes being white. Idk why but that's really aesthetic???? i lov

YESSS, I wanted them to share a few traits and the white lower eyelashes really helped bring visibility to Radio's eyes and I couldn't resist passing it to Frequency. I'm so happy you like it, thanks a bunch for your kind words! ;w;

I feel the pain of redesigning main characters x_x. I've revamped my main cast numerous times (usually their outfits, I struggle with designing clothes). It's always such a hassle to figure out what needs redrawing, updating, etc. That's part of the reason that I decided to go with a novel for my main project; I'm much less paranoid about needing to fix art in the long run.
The redesigns look awesome! I think my favorites have to be Video, Audio, Studio, and Cassette.

Yeah like my dude Phantascope has gotten revamped nearly every year since I first made him KSJFNkjfnf but everyone else was a really dramatic change for me TwT AAAA I'm so excited to hear about your novel and wish you luck for it! It's really a lot of fun and totally worth it. I wish you luck with it! Clothes can be so fun but it sooo depends on the type of universe xD

Haha, I think I remember when you posted Phantascope's last reference sheet. I've always liked his design, and I think this new version of him is very strong! It's such an odd feeling to redesign characters that you've drawn frequently, like, "Oh, you're different now." Especially with characters that you have a strong emotional connection to. I remember when I redesigned my main character's outfit, it was weird and uncomfortable even though it desperately needed an update. Now that I've gotten used to it, though, I'm happy with it. It's going to be interesting to see these new Mandatory designs around! I'm excited to see new content with them!!
AAAH, thank you! I'm about 60-70 pages into my first draft, but I had to put it on hold for a while. I'm hoping that with quarantine, I'll have more time to focus on it. I wish I could crank out the first draft for NaNoWriMo, like you did with the Mandatory books! Writing is such an adventure but I truly enjoy it.
I find warm color schemes really appealing! I think that's why I'm drawn to a lot of these new designs, they seem to have a wider range of values. Video looks especially epic. She's almost like a tiger.

I really really like these. As mush as the previous ones looked great, the design was severely lost in the amount of different patterns intertwined, and many of that could be mistaken for shading instead of fur markings

EEEE thank you Scarlett. YEAH I've always loved the warm spectrum of colors and as soon as I got confident in mixing colors with it I've been wanting to make more designs with it ever since TwT This was such a treat to do and I'm so glad you like them.
YESS Studio was one of my faves and I'm hoping I can figure out the secret to kinda insure improvement on all the other designs xD I'm so glad you like Audio and Frequency as well, I had so much fun finding the perfect eye color for Audio to pay tribute to when she had green eyes LOL, Frequency was really fun since I always wanted to tweak her collar a little and with the new format for noble collars it worked out perfect.
