Lots of buzz going around about a new Power Rangers movie. With that comes a lot of concept art of what new rangers are going to look like.I went with a more futuristic feel with the armor. The Red Ranger always seemed to have a sword of some type, so I went ahead and gave her one.Β
That's right! HER! Whys the Red Ranger always gotta be a dude? I think there has been a total of 2 female Red Rangers? I don't know, I wanted to make a female though.

I think the reason why the red ranger is always a guy is because Power Ranger's Japanese counterpart Super Sentai always has a male red ranger, so unfortunately the only way we can get a female red ranger (one who's the leader throughout an entire season), is if the Sentai makes one as well, or Saban makes one of their own, but that would call for either entirely original footage, which Saban is probably too cheap to do, or for them to pretend the red ranger of a sentai is actually female like they've done with some female yellow rangers (something they don't do anymore I think).
Its sad, but that's the situation I think. It would be nice if someday they tried for something different though & gave us a female red ranger who wasn't the leader of a bad guy team like in S.P.D. or a plot device who's only around for a few episodes like in PR Samurai.
