Well... the long white hair and even longer leather coats have something interesting but its the teeth that puts me off. Whenever I see one I want to give him a bath and hand him a toothbrush. Give me Ronan over a wraith any day ^.^ Did you know that almost all the male Wraiths are played by the same dude (or 2 dudes)?

I love their look, yes. I don't mind their teeth either and think their tinted teeth are just leftover from their iratus heritage, since their gums and tongues are also tinted purple. In some historical human cultures, such as feudal Japan, dyed teeth were seen as fashionable. Eating a bowl full of blackberries and black cargo rice and then walking into something like an interview (with a hidden camera) would be fun. The same was with the Queens: one actress portrayed most of them. That's talent and patience for all that make-up!

it must get so itchy under those layers of putty, paint and fake teeth. Which makes one wonder. If they sustain themselves with human live-force-thingy why do they even need pointy teeth?
Also, feudal japan shows how little sense fashion makes at times. Weren't they following a emperor with bad teeth so they painted their own teeth black so he would not stand out so much?

Imagine getting an itch on the nose just after all the prosthetics were applied. The teeth were half explained in that they eat regular food until adulthood, but not why the teeth are pointy. You are probably correct about the tooth dye trend origin. It stayed around for a while because it ended up acting as a dental sealant and preventing cavities.

I think the teeth are there to show that they are, in fact, predators ^.^ Just like they speak perfect English for our convenience. Still, they stay one of my more favorite alien races

LOL, true, I think the producers said something similar about what fans call the unexplained viper pits or sensor pits on their faces, that the creators wanted to give the Wraith shark-like features. The features are memorable and work well; Todd is especially a well-recognized sci-fi character.

So that is what they are. I always wondered what those things were good for. I kind of reasoned they were there to help with the telepathy thing they had going on in the first season.
