Description Since I'll be submitting art that I drew almost half a year ago, I'm going to put the month I drew it in for the sake of record keeping. I've also improved a bunch since then since I can see flaws in this sketch, which is awesome! I won't deny I'm a bit shy of posting art that I can see flaws in now, but hopefully you guys will see a steady improvement as I post progressively newer stuff over the next few weeks.

Regarding this... I remember wanting to draw, but I had no idea what to draw. I ended up going a bit meta and drew one of my characters drawing as you can see, haha.

Heh, heh... cute! Love how he's looking there, especially the expression of commitment.

Danbuster: Hey, Tem old buddy! Great to see you drawing again!

Thank you! Hopefully I'll be able to stick around this time, even if it just means posting a doodle now and then, despite things getting as busy as they are.

Don't be shy to post works you consider flawed.

I was playing a beautiful prelude by Shostakovich that he wrote when he was 14 years old. One year later, he was reluctant to include it in a publication because it already seemed juvenile to him.

Or look at Beethoven, who pumped out hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of pieces of music. Yes, he wrote some of the greatest music in history — but he also wrote some garbage too, like his settings of Scottish songs. I gave those songs one listen, and have never even LOOKED at the CD since. That's how bad they were.
Funny thing, though? Having written forgettable dross AND immortal masterpieces makes Beethoven even better — it makes him more approachable.
So post your work, and don't be afraid of its quality. You can always go back and fix it up!

Hey thank you dude. I really liked this analogy you wrote, and it's true! Not everything you create will be a home run, but what's important is you step up to the plate and swing in the first place.

One of the main reasons I'm posting old art too is just to show my watchers here how much I've improved since this summer. It's a really good thing I can see mistakes now. That's why I keep my old art in my gallery instead of clean it out like some artists do. It's really cool to look back and see how far I've come since my early days of posting here.

Awesome! Heh heh heh, I love the solution you came up with for having no idea of drawing!

Generally if I have no idea of what to draw, more often than not I'll do some life drawing to help me draw better for when I do have an idea. Those otter life drawings I posted yesterday is one example of that.
