Wow you guys… I’m completely blown away by the response to the animatic I posted yesterday. I was hoping Ferris would be well-received, but I didn’t imagine it would be received this well. I’ve never been happier to make so many people cry. Thank you guys so much for taking the time to watch my silly story!
For a long time, I’ve fantasized about making an animated story of my own, especially after seeing a great feature film. Of course, I don’t have millions of dollars and a huge workforce at my disposal, and I’m not an animator by trade, so I thought making an animatic like you just saw would be something I could do But a lot held me back. The biggest one was self-doubt. I wasn’t sure if I was completely over-estimating my abilities, or how much people would enjoy an animatic. Would it be boring without full animation? Would the stories I’d make have awful pacing, or be completely ham-handed emotionally? Was I even ready, artistically? So much was stopping me from investing the hours.
It’s a bit of a dream come true, to see how everything has turned out. I feel validated, that these last 7+ years of imagining that I could do this weren’t completely wrong. That I should have had more confidence in myself all along, and that I really do have the ability to tell entertaining stories.
Foxfall (aka. AJ), was a huge credit to the success of the animatic as well. This project wouldn’t have turned out as good as it did without him. Finally, for those who have been wanting, and asking if I’ll be doing more, yes, I absolutely will! I have a story in the works called Ottermelon that was intended to be finished long before Ferris ever appeared. I’m going to take what I learned from Ferris, work on it when I can, and try to have it out by the summer!
