Description For someone who spent an embarrassing percentage of her teenage years drawing chicks with corsets, flowy hair, puffy sleeves, layered skirts and brocade designs... I have a gallery that's weirdly missing my favorite Disney Princess, Rapunzel.

I had my fun in adapting her movie outfit to something a bit more to my liking, but still keeping the general idea in there. I honestly don't get why they didn't properly layer her skirt in the movie and why the puffy sleeves look like a print rather than the cut pieces of fabric that were actually fashionable during the Renaissance (meaning like this: starlightmasquerade.com/wp-con… or this: fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/i/201… ) - I mean, WDAS were trying to make their first 3D movie (completely independent of Pixar) be as impressive as possible, right? So why the shortcuts? Especially when the Renaissance fashion on Rapunzel's clothes was meant to contrast the Medieval dress that Gothel wears - since she's "ancient" and all...

But oh well - I do love the movie and now I'm just nitpicking.

That Art Nouveau round thingy found its way in a Punzy piece again - I have no idea why, it just felt natural... as it did the other time I posted something "Tangled" . And of course, how could I pass up the opportunity of playing with light and color?

I made the design available for purchase on Society6 (prints, mugs, T-shirts, duvets, bla bla bla)society6.com/teohoble/rapunzel…

Enjoy!

Great drawing, but Tangled wasn't Disney's first 3D movie independent on Poca it was actually Chicken Little. Also I really like the way her hair flows.

I had to Google that, but you're absolutely right. I guess it's a misconception I've fallen prey to because "Chicken Little" doesn't get much fan attention (and I myself am not a fan). Still, good to know so that I can stop repeating the mistake

Amazing work. I really like what you did with the hair. And great job with the colouring, details, shading, lighting and pose.

Love this! But yeah, the definitely cheated on her dress. My guess is the skirt was a displacement map and cutouts on the sleeve were done with transparency maps rather than being properly modeled. Pixar wouldn't have taken those shortcuts, Disney.
