I draw the lineart traditionally with ink and then edit the contrast to my liking. After that I copy the lineart to a lower opacity multiply layer and use the halftone filter on it. I also typically use this marker texture as an overlay layer for added texture.

No problem! But yeah, the main reason is that this way the lineart isnt just solid black everywhere, but rather there is texture and line weight and opacity variation. I think it makes the lineart a bit more interesting.
