Description When moving to a new house, the house spirit can start harassing the new inhabitants by appearing in human form, creating nightmares, making children cry. To appease or banish the spirit, one has to perform rituals and give offerings, asking the spirit to let them live in peace.

That's an interesting character, it reminds me in fact also of another Finnish character, Nightmare, of which I have made a picture earlier!

You're right . In slavic folklore we have more "Nightmarish" creatures for e.g zmora or północnica (in eglish it would sound like midnighter or sth like that). Unfortunatly ALMOST EVERY slavic house spirit looks (more or less) like little dwarf, even inimical kikimora. Sometimes ugly and furry or shapeshifter  dwarf, but dwarf. Well... Poroniec looks different - poroniec it's small but powerfull evil house spirit/demon from miscarriage or aborted child. If woman have miscarriage she should burry fetus under house threshold. After that miscarriage child don't transform into poroniec but into klobug - good,helful and bringing luck house spirit who looks like... WET CHICKEN xD
