Hmmm...Spiderman was unfortunately a bit like that too...all ragdoll like. I shall HAVE to see the Wild Things!
Oh...now what do you think of American Werewolf in London? I think the transformation sequence is still fantastic and not a bit of cgi in sight! But...let's gloss over American Werwolf in Paris shall we?! Oh dear....

Yeah! Like, really? Bleh. It's so weird, it's like, "That's not a human..." You need to! It's pretty rad. I even liked how they bumped the story. Just... couple things were like O-o But I can't tell you what those are, you just have to see it.
Oh anything by Rick Baker is like gold, hahaha. They worked so hard on that, even developed something new to use for the stretches. Def. looking forward to The Wolfman remake, and I hate remakes XD
Eck... American Werewolf in London was SO bad. Not even just the CG werewolves, but the story and characters. MAN...
It's a pity that a lot of movie monsters have bad storylines :C

ermm...I presuming you meant 'Werewolf In Paris?' Anyway, yes...I agree! As for Master Baker...well, what can we say? All hail! And while we're at it...all hail Dick Smith! And...if I may be so bold..all hail Tom Savini! *and ... relax.*

Oh yes. I was thinking of putting that American Werewolf in Paris was such a bad wanna-be sequel to American Werewolf in London. But it came out as putting the wrong thing. O---o this project (and doing like a bazillion other things) has fried my poor little brain. That and fumes...
YAY!

There's only been a few cgi bits that have worked, in my opinion. One being anything from WETA and two being Where the Wild Things Are. I haven't seen anything else that has impressed me and am still amused at how much better game graphics are than movies'. And how movies such as Jurassic Park and Dragonheart still hold up a lot better than most cgi out today... And how old are those...?
Thank you very much. It is a great honor to be somewhat compared to top prosthetics XD I can only hope to get to that level and to be hired as such too.

I agree with WETA absolutely but I haven't seen Where The Wild Things Are yet. Have you seen Hellboy 2? That, to me, is a perfect example of how all the modern technologies are working excellently together; apparently Guillermo del Toro, the director, wanted to use as many physical effects/ creature costumes as possible before having to use cgi. It certainly makes for a very 'real' looking film.

Terra-fen In reply to richardj [2009-11-21 20:45:43 +0000 UTC]
Oh dear, I completely forgot about del Toro. Yes. He does an excellent job. But some of the cg effects, especially in the fight scenes, look like "rag dolls". More so in the first Hellboy, I think, than the second one.
Where the Wild Things was a triumph and show practical effects still work (goddammit, lol.) They had suits and the faces were CG. OH MAN. Perfect. Where the puppets and suits are weak (in most cases) they used the CG to make them have WONDERFUL expressions and mouth movements. I feel like finding some way to contact spike jonze and tell him how much he made me happy XD
Anyways, before I get too off into it. WETA, Spike Jonze, del Toro: wonderful. There's very few others that do it well. For instance, Harry Potter flicks. Good dragons. WTF HAPPENED WITH THE QUIDDICH??? That's the "rag dolls" i'm talking about. They look like toys, the lighting is awful and they just don't look like people XD
