The Union was the government of the planet Shokana (Scr 587J/d). Based from the capital city of Zephyria, The Shokana Federal Union consisted of 160 different states, a federal district containing the capital city, and numerous offworld territories across the the worlds of the Rondo system.

The Union was formed by colonists from Ardana and Girdana, originally arriving during a time of overpopulation in the core systems. The Shokana Federal Union was formed around year 549 from the previously existing government known as the Shokana Commonwealth. It was formally recognized by the United States of Ardana as an independent state in the year 550.

During the late 500s and early 600s, Union would enjoy great economic growth, with the planet Shokana serving as a jumping off point for continued human exploration of the Socoris region and the rest of the Scutum Crux arm.
