Believe it or not, I'm not nuts about Katniss's hair. It actually came out better on the first draft I scrapped. But the faces in this one were nearly perfect, so I was like 'screw the hair, I'm going with this'. I WAS NOT making another draft.
So glad you like the shading. Katniss's dress killed me. I HATE SHADING BLACK ON BLACK.

Let me answer the 'what did you like about making this?' question first:
This was H-E-L-L to draw! The writer gave me a grocery list of scenes from her fic before she'd even written them. This was the one that caught my fancy. But, I can't draw from imagination, so I had to find a stock photo for reference. Everything I found was either too risque or too dark to see detail, until I finally came upon this. I had to zoom and lighten it like nuts to see the detail. Thank god it was HD. Then, I wanted the faces to be Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, but I made 6 edits and started a first draft and the faces just didn't look right. Then, I remembered I'd seen something like this before and remembered the snow kiss from CF. So, I scrapped my first draft and made 2 more edits with the snow kiss transposed over the faces. IT WORKED!!! It took forever because, even zoomed, the facial features were tiny and almost indistinguishable--and very, very dark. I spent 6 hours on just their faces and their hair. After that, I lost all interest in finishing it, because I had Katniss's very BLACK dress to do next. Do you know how hard it is to make visible black wrinkles on a black dress? IT IS VERY HARD! So, I let it sit for 2 days and worked on another piece instead. When I came back to it, I just sucked it up and finished the rest in 2 hours. That's why the back of Katniss's dress and Peeta's right leg is so half-assed. So, what did I like about making this? The couch. Honestly. That's my favorite thing on here, because you can tell it's a bloody white couch in spite of all the black in this.
Thank you for your comment about my shading. I've actually gotten better at it over the last 12 months, thanks to tips from . I learned to do this on my own when I was maybe nine? But I've always been afraid to shade into black, so my stuff always looked washed. Edith taught me how to layer the darks after blending so the color intensifies without visible pencil strokes. By the way, I blend with my fingers. It's gross, but fun.
I had a snow kiss gif I made. I separated the frames to where it looks like their noses are rubbing together for this. I found it super endearing.
Thanks for the lovely comment!
