I'm baffled by why people think watermarks are necessary. Do you have people buying your images to get a watermark free version? Or is there something else that makes you feel the need? I'm not being critical, I just don't understand the reasoning.

No I don't have to sell my pictures .. but some time ago I found some of my pictures on FB .. the most without any credits .. some with removed tag and this is annoying and the reason why I use the deviant watermark

Every artwork in interNet galleries need a watermark, IMHO.
Great, if artist CAN DO it using own skills (editing images in PhotoShop
or other good graphic editor). But some people haven't skills (a time, a wish)
and use dA algoritm (not the best, but quick) to place watermark.
