yeah, I agree. Almost every TF i see has the victim forgetting who they are and nothing else happens.
Take TFSubmissions for example. In her comics, most of the time, Gold just forgets and he just lives as a girl (There IS a few exeptions thogh)

Well, MC can be fun as pure food forthought, but in this case, the physical change seems downright painful.

No offense to your items of course. They are innovative and cool. But, well, say in this one or any other like it started LIKING the change. That, just, dude, come on. The human spirit is strong. Besides, it kills the story and only the tormentor is happy. No one wants that.

I am not saying you are. I am talking about the causes of said change in the story. Those that are sentient and that cruel are just plain evil. However all I just said is negated if it is temporary, say, a week at most. That basically would be the magical equivalent of a drunken night: anything can happen (only on th Hub) and you won't remember a darn thing. So yeah, not trying to hate on people, I am just saying I hate the guys in the story's world that does change people without empathy.

Revenge, hate, replacing something or someone, simply for the sake of chaos, bribery, conformity. Those are just some of them.

Well, that depends on how extreme the mental alteration is. If it's a total alteration to the point where little if anything remains of their former self, then I admit that I'm not that crazy about it. That's more like being blissfully ignorant or being drugged or something.
However, if it's something simpler such as things that feel good to a pony now feel good to the person that's a bit more okay. It could also involve having some new instincts, thoughts, desires, that sort of thing. What we do with those desires is still an individual thing. That feels more like growing up and starting to think more like an adult, perhaps some day realizing that the kids are now 'them'. That's more like normal changes we experience over time.

Well, I guess you have a point. But if they start to envelop the natural psyche, some wizard staffs are going to be token over some wizard heads. Imagine if something like that happened to you. It'd be darn right horrible.
