Athena is the Goddess of Wisdom, war, weaving and crafts. She is the daughter of Zeus and his first wife Metis, she emerged from his head after Zeus swallowed Metis. She is a virgin goddess. She has a major sibling rivalry with her half-brother Ares. She was mainly worshipped in Athens.

She is her father's favorite daughter and often his advisor.

She can be vain, when she heard Arachne's claim that her weaving was better than hers she challenged her and when Arachne won she in her anger turned her into a spider. She had as one of her Priestesses in her temple the beautiful Medusa who was assaulted in her temple by Poseidon, as she was unable to punish her uncle so she instead punished Medusa and turned her into a Gorgan.

She was one of the three Goddesses involved in the Golden Apple debacle, she offered Paris wisdom, fame and glory in battle as a bribe but he choose Aphrodite.

Areas were she was worshipped in Southern Greece, Attica, Megaris, Corinthia, Sicyonia, Argolis, Laconia, Messenia, Elis, Achaia and Arcadia. In Central Greece, Boeotia, Phocis, Ozolian Locris, Opuntian Locris. In Northen Greece, Malis and Thessalia. In the Greek Aegean, Ceos, Chios, Samos, Rhodes, and Crete.
