Description Oils on wood panel, 6x8".

Tiny little thing, again not the best photo. I really hate photographing oil paintings, anyone want to do it for me?

Thanks , I hink I finally found the magic formula for taking pictures of paintings, though I still have problems getting the same value range in the photo that is in the painting. Β Darks still mass togther and flatten out, I wonder if anyone else has this problem....?

For me depending on size of image and technique when painting i would use different method for taking pictures. Β Mostly i would rely on polarised filter when i relied on stand oil much always white balance on same spot where i would take photo and use a strip with colours on side of painting that i knew how to match on screen with photoshop. Β Smaller images especially with reversed oil on glass scanner would sometimes work better but with a lot of tweaking. Natural light and in shade would work good however hallogen light reflector where light is diffused by pointing it against cealing when taking photo helped a lot too.
And you are most welcome. Β You make me want pick up oils again.

Natural is what I have had he best success with, I never thought of a polarized filter. That might be just the thing, going to do some research now

The answer to your last question is no! Love the textures of the fruit especially the segments. The way you capture lighting is very effective.

Sigh, it was worth a shot.
Look so different though, none of the lovely subtle reflexs in the darks show up in the photo, which makes it look rather flat. O well

I'd sooner have the photo look bad than my painting, I've had times when I've thought the photo of the painting better than the painting.
