What I don't like about this is the messy background (too much going on there) and the depth of field. The composition is nice though.

Changing the depth of field would change the messiness of the background... Unfortunately, while I agree, I didn't have the right equipment or know-how at the time to make that happen Maybe next time...

You might know this now but it would be good to carry around a piece of cloth to use as a background (blurred out).
