Are you taking request? I'm kinda looking for a sister of battle model like this

The-Build In reply to Outlawgrave [2016-05-15 07:55:05 +0000 UTC]
Well I'm glad you like her, I will be doing another one as soon as I can (Chaos), but it won't be for sale as all the artwork is owned by another deviant art user.
Unfortunately I don't have the free time for requests or commissions.

I probably should have put "WIP" in the title as the arms weren't even finished. ._.

Do you take requests?

The-Build In reply to anjetto [2011-07-14 15:39:57 +0000 UTC]
I occasionally do commissions, depends on what a person wants, hope much concept artwork I'm given and if they're prepared to pay a reasonable rate.

What would you charge for a sister of battle like the one you made?
π: 0 β©: 1
The-Build In reply to anjetto [2011-07-23 23:07:43 +0000 UTC]
About Β£400, the amount of time that goes into sculpting one from scratch.

superhippieman In reply to The-Build [2011-09-14 19:37:35 +0000 UTC]
do you ever sculpt for companies?
π: 0 β©: 1
The-Build In reply to superhippieman [2011-09-14 20:50:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I mainly sculpt for Troll forged miniatures, but I've done the occasional sculpt for one or two other companies, I don't get a lot of work to be honest.

superhippieman In reply to The-Build [2011-09-14 21:17:06 +0000 UTC]
I'm trying to get into that. I've sculpted about 7 or 8 figures in greenstuff and i've sculpted probably 15 or 20 total(other clays)I'm getting more confident and i'm improving very rapidly. I have a commission for 3 figures, but the pricing is TERRIBLE!!! i'll probably never sculpt for them again unless they can double what they give me.

The-Build In reply to superhippieman [2011-09-14 21:24:53 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately a lot of places are like that. Β£400 was the best I got paid for one single piece, but with all the time that went into it, it doesn't work out as being very well paid at all.

superhippieman In reply to The-Build [2011-09-14 21:55:38 +0000 UTC]
I'm in the US and this company in Texas will pay anywhere between $300 to $500 for a figure depending on how complicated it is. That's the level i'm trying to work up to, some of these companies that pay less (not to be insulting of course) but they get what they pay for.

The-Build In reply to superhippieman [2011-09-15 15:21:55 +0000 UTC]
Pay is good, but more than this I'd have to say a good company who reply and pay you promptly is more important.
It's all very well getting paid Β£400 for a green, but not if it takes half a year from beginning to end to sort out everything and get paid.

superhippieman In reply to The-Build [2011-09-15 15:49:35 +0000 UTC]
I didn't even think of that being a problem. Wow, now i worry about when i will get paid for my recent commission (not done with the figs yet of course)

The-Build In reply to superhippieman [2011-09-15 16:44:41 +0000 UTC]
It's a HUGE problem, my number one problem in fact, people who waste your time and take months to sometimes email you back.
It's why I keep working with Troll forged, if I need a reply to an email I get one, usually that same day.

superhippieman In reply to The-Build [2011-09-15 16:52:53 +0000 UTC]
Well, at least I know a professional or two down here that can give me the down low on which comapnies around here pay good and which don't. I have a feeling (now that you've told me this) that I will not get paid until thier project is finished and ALL the miniatures for this line are sculpted.

I don't know, generally speaking I'm cautious of anyone who is "starting up" a company.
Ones that are on running tend to be better though.

yeah, I told my wife that if i getted ripped off on this deal, it's not big woop. I'm going to be sculpting to practice anyway. that's why i'm doing this deal. i wont ever do anyting for this price again thogh.

Sounds good, just make sure you do everything you can, a certain company I tried test sculpts for kept some of my greens without paying me a thing.

Is the fluff official?
I feel like this needs moar spikes. Or perhaps one large spike as part of her right shinguard.
It looks really great. I like the little Slaanesh details.

The-Build In reply to PlasticusForkus [2011-07-08 20:44:07 +0000 UTC]
It is, well part of two older codex books (both chaos 2nd ed and sisters of battle).
Spikes I can work with, planning more on the back pack as well as removing and resculpting the ones on there in this photo.

PlasticusForkus In reply to The-Build [2011-07-08 21:53:02 +0000 UTC]
Aaah, I never read those Codices. I don't think there's any mention of them in the Witch Hunters Codex.
π: 0 β©: 1
The-Build In reply to PlasticusForkus [2011-07-09 07:18:28 +0000 UTC]
Yeah it was in both of the earlier codices, there was even a couple of pieces of artwork done for the character, so I started with those as a base.

Tulon In reply to The-Build [2012-06-29 19:45:12 +0000 UTC]
That's not exactly true, Chaos Sisters were never mentioned in any Codex. The Lexicanum article claiming this is simply wrong, and 2nd Edition material even goes so far as to claim that Sisters are "utterly incorruptible".
However, Chaos Sisters did appear in various outsourced/licensed material, such as Miriael Sabathiel for the "Dark Millennium" TCG and Abnett's short story "The Invitation", or the possessed Sororitas in Daemonifuge. Gav Thorpe and Andy Hoare themselves once said that there is no canon for 40k, which explains how there can be so many different (and at times conflicting) ideas floating around in the franchise. This also means, however, that you're basically free to make up what you want. Personally, I have subscribed to Dan Abnett's idea of Miriael Sabathiel as the only Sister that got turned - because Miriael is awesome (and creepy).
For the record, this is an amazing miniature - the amount of detail is stunning, and the facial expression fits perfectly. Any chance of seeing a painted version?
