The Black Tusk Peak was the favorite perch of the Thunderbird, the most powerful of spirit-beings who brought Thunder with the crash of his wings, dropped the wolf-headed lightning snakes from under his wings and hunted whales in the Gulf of Georgia.

The Black Tusk is the core remnant of a stratovolcano in the Garibaldi region of British Columbia, visible from the Sea-to-Sky Highway and popular with hikers and climbers.
