I always wondered how you like using the Nikon D7100? I have the same camera.  I don't know anyone else that has the same model.  awesome shot btw!!!

I love it personally, I got it because it has good low light performance, and it'll let you auto-bracket with 5 shots.  I have noticed a tiny bit of moire due to the lack of a low pass filter, but it's worth the tradeoff for the increase in sharpness.  How do you like yours?   Thank you!

I love it too! I have noticed a bit of moire too but I still love my camera. I do however want to eventually get a full frame camera but  I don't know if I will. I just wonder because I don't see or know of many people who use this model. I didn't really fully research this model when I bought it either. I also do not know much about photography and it's technical aspects if that makes sense. I just... do it??? lol I dunno.

I know what you mean, I've been taking photos for about 15 years now, and I spent the first half of that time largely shooting in Auto or P mode because I found all of the other settings intimidating.  I'm still by no means an expert on the technical side of things, but I slowly pick up stuff as I go.   I'd love to get a full frame camera someday, but I'd be really sad to have to either give up my 10-24mm lens or have it make weirdly cropped images.

yeah I hear you on the full frame side of things. I've never shot in auto or P. I have only ever done Manual. I feel weird doing otherwise. I just kept doing it until it sort of came as second nature.

I mostly shoot in aperture priority nowadays, does it take you long to get all the settings right in full manual?

Not really. I mean I just kind of figure out what my ISO should be and how to get the best lighting. It's mainly just trying to get into focus what you want to focus on. It doesn't auto focus or anything so you have to be a bit creative with that. Being able to control the aperture gives you a bit more leeway into getting a better depth of field.  I do always use auto white balance though.  Y. but I like to control EVERYTHING so I feel like it is actually me creating the image through all the components .. so if it sucks its on me lol.  It kinda helps you understanding light and the way the arpeture shutterspeed and ISO work together.  I figured that trying to teach myself in manual mode would help me learn and master other modes better. I still however.... only wanna shoot in manual. lol  I think what it is is that I like to mess around to see what kind of mood I can create with the light so that the image fits the mood I want. ... IF that makes sense. I also want to try to do auto ISO and try that out... but I don't think that will happen as I am too much of a control freak hahaha.

I only use auto-focus on the rare occasions when I'm shooting a moving subject, I like to use the live view to really zoom in and set the focus from there.  With the HDR processing I use noise often gets confused with detail and accentuated, so I generally try to keep the ISO as low as I can get away with.  I'll adjust the aperture generally to try and aim for f8 in a still/well lit scene, but adjusting it down if it's windy or dark to decrease shutter speed.  White balance is something that's super easy to fix in post if you're shooting in RAW, I usually set it manually, but on rare occasions I forget to change it between shoots.

I get that. Yeah I have yet to use liveview on my camera.  Lol... I know this is a bad thing... but I do not shoot in RAW... I know. I probably should but I don't.  I feel like there are more things I should mess around with and try different settings and what not. I generally try to go with the lowest ISO I can get away with.
