Well, I love the T-50.
I picked a new plane for them: The ASF-X Shinden II. That will be their official jet type in my upcoming fanfic.

ASF-X? Hm, interesting choice. It looks quite cool to me, but since anyone can't tell about even predictable characteristics, and since Japs can't into military forces (sad, but true) I'd better recommend something that actually flies. Eurofighter, or MiG-25, for example. Just sayin'.

Well, the MIG-25 is a speedy one, but it isn't maneuverable enough by Wonderbolt standards. The Eurofighter is a Great War machine, but it's designed for air to air combat mostly.
I chose the Shinden II cuz it's a multipurpose fighter, and I'd like to give some appreciation to Japenese made fighter jets. Besides, the events of the story happen in the ponies' world, where Neighpon (pony name for Nippon) has a military partnership with Equestria, and both countries are working on the jet.

Well, never played Ace Combat, can't tell anything. But if this fic is about some war or military stuff, I'd highly recommend to start it like Red Alert 2:

Personally, I like Russian planes more than any other.

Most of them are former Solar Empire fighters from the Equestrian Civil War (as nearly all of the New Lunar Republic's American fighters were destroyed).
In fact, the only non-Russian fighters used by the EAF are the BAe Harrier, Panavia Tornado, Eurofighter Typhoon, Saab Gripen (a favorite among gryphons for obvious reasons), Dassault Mirage 2000N and Rafale M, and the Mitsubishi F-2 (though in essence it's a licensed copy of the F-16 Fighting Falcon)
Aside from the Wonderbolts' Su-50s, only one other PAK-FA exists in the EAF's inventory: Celestia's personal fighter. It's equipped with a more advanced radar and carries a GPS guidance system for delivering a payload of "Solar Flare" nuclear missiles
