Description This is a long overdue gift art for It is based on the episode "Homer's Night Out" from season 1. For those of you who haven't seen it, while Homer is at a stag party, Marge takes the kids to "The Rusty Barnacle" for dinner. Bart being a smartass orders the "squid platter" with "extra tentacles;" but when the order finally comes, his face turns green and he feels nauseated when he looks at the squid.
Squidward being Squidward, tells Bart, "Gimme back my *$&#^(% tentacles!"

This was the first thing I have ever done that went from concept art all the way to final product. The original picture had Squiddy on crutches and Brt looked like a tiki head. It is also the most detailed picture I have done to date. Look at the fish hanging in the nets on the wall--can you catch the Spongebob references?
Hope you like it.

I always pretend that that the squid was talking when Bart lowers his head behind the table when he felt sick.

Well, Squidward is actually an octopus, not a squid...but whichever way works for you, then.

Oh God. At first I thought this was Squidward's Suicide meets Ded Bart.
I lol'd so hard.

That's what comments are for! I still laugh everytime I see that scene in the episode.

Bart's reaction in that episode was priceless. And were Squidward to really approach him like that, Bart would probably faint.

Old school Simpsons! And an interesting twist. Nice work!

Aww, poor Squidward! lol, this is still hilarious, I like the background

I had fun with trying to mix the styles of the two shows. Although I recall Squidward saying that he would sooner "eat his own legs" (and not just the extra ones) before he would eat a Krabby Patty.

Thats pure genius! I never thought that!

I like the use of old school Simpsons and the Squidward on a wheelchair.

The green-ness of Bart's face is just classic! That's the way I get if I've let calamari get too cold before I eat it. (My mom's favorite quote from me on the subject, when she convinced me to try them; "Ugh...Did someone slip a rubber band into the batter?!?")

And they can taste like rubber bands if they aren't done right. That is still one of my favorite scenes in the SImpsons, because Bart got exactly what he deserved for his wise-assness.

Ah, yes! Indeed he did.

Now, would it be in character for Bart to say, "Don't have a sea cow, man!" to Squidward?

Poor Squidward! I hope he can grow new tentacles!

But where is the eye on Bart's plate coming from?

the-sashimi-frog In reply to Nenial [2009-03-15 23:10:29 +0000 UTC]

In the episode, the squid was placed on the plate so that the eye was looking right up at Bart. I took everything from the screen shot, including how the squid looked; I just changed the color so that it looked more like Squidward.

Nenial In reply to the-sashimi-frog [2009-03-16 15:01:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it looks a lot like the scene from the show.

What I meant was: How can there be an eye if it was just Squidward's legs they sawed off?

the-sashimi-frog In reply to Nenial [2009-03-17 19:35:59 +0000 UTC]

The way I interpreted the scene was that the chef took Squidward's legs so that Bart could have his "extra" tentacles, so the eye belongs to the original squid rather than Squidward. I was originally planning to have Bart eating Squidward, but I thought that would be too gross.

Ah, I see.

Yes, Squidward dead on a plate would be cruel.

Even for Bart! Although I do have one in the planning where Bart is at the beach and he has Spongebob and Patrick in a little bucket, and he tells Lisa, "check out the cool talking sea creatures. I found them in the tidepool over there." Of course Lisa would be a little shocked...

Lisa: "Put them back! They're living creatures and deserve our respect!"
Bart: "I rather thought of vivisection."

I see Mr. K and Pat in the nets! Hehehe! I love this! Thank you SO much! It really makes me smile!
