HA! I'm not that crazy. . . yet.
For some of them I use a Colour shaper [link] It's practically like drawing them on.
But the really teeny tiny ones
I made my own tool. I just made a small wire loop and made a handle out of epoxy.

ah I see, I have some silicon shaping tools like that, so you are just indenting the clay around each scale to form the shapes?
anyway the finish look epic, would love to try something that scaly eventually
