"As maudlin as it sounds, the truth is that I feel very paternal toward the bears, and I don't want them to have to see the evil in the world. They don't have eyes because I want to protect them."
In My Opinion... And this is only my opinion... I think that the joy of comforting a child in times of need would overpower the 'seeing of evil' They get to watch the child grow and stuff...
I think it's cute anyway. <3

Chris, I simply love your teddy bears! And, personally, the faceless bears are comforting to me....don't know why, but it comforts me. I wouldn't like them with eyes.
You have my upmost respect with sewing these by hand! I do not have the patience required to even attempt such a thing. I do know how to sew, and have sewn many things, but I get so bored doing them that I usually do a sloppy and careless job on them. I use the machine for when I quilt, and use quick techniques to get them done in half the time. Even still, I have many quilts left undone! So much respect from me to you!
I know that you usually give these to charities, but how much would you charge for them? I love these faceless bears of yours. They are so comforting, even in a photo! I also find your reasoning for leaving them faceless very understandable. Your wife is one lucky gal!

Gee, thanks! I'm overwhelmed! I've lost the pattern, but I think I could probably wing it pretty well. I tried to sell a few, but they sold poorly because even at US$20 (which I thought was pretty reasonable for a hand-made bear) people said they were too expensive. D:

Ancient, so sorry, but I just don't understand. You are an artist and live through your eyes, but when you make bears you don't allow them to see????
