Description Watercolour, 12" by 18".  In October, I went to Zambia in southern Africa as the guest of a small orphanage in the bush to teach art.  This is one of the orphan girls. It was truly a life-changing experience.  On an artists income, it's a bit hard to come up with the dough for a trip like that, but many of my fellow artists and patrons donated to help get me there, so I'll be sending them prints of this one as a way of saying "thank you".  On my first full day at the orphanage, I was called upon to teach more than 200 children from the neighbouring villages - I taught light and shadow in pastel in groups of 75 on that day.  It was amazing - you could have heard a pin drop in that room.  Later, the children walked home with their treasured artworks rolled and tucked carefully away.  I have no doubt that they're still proudly displayed in wood and thatch huts.
