Description For my first observational sketch, I decided to draw some fruit. I only had access to apples and bananas at the time, so I decided to draw them. I also found two really helpful YouTube videos published by Art of Wei in which he goes over some of the basics of tonal drawing. Here are the links to both those videos:

How to Draw an Apple - It's Important: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnUco5…
How to Draw a Bunch of Bananas with Pencil: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnPKYr…

In both videos, he says you should avoid making hard edges with your pencil, and instead sketch softly when drawing the outline of the shape. I was mostly able to accomplish this, but unfortunately I made a few hard edges in some places. I'm gonna try and avoid doing that when I do my next observational drawing. He also suggests cross-hatching and shading in different directions as opposed to simply shading in one direction; I'm glad I followed those instructions as I feel my finished illustrations - whilst not perfect - look much more interesting and realistic due to it, and would've probably looked worse if I had chosen to shade in one direction.

Here are the two references I used:
