I decided to conduct a little experiment this time around. Usually I draw the comic on paper, scan it into the computer and then trace and colour it on Photoshop. However, for this page I drew everything directly into photoshop, which gave me a lot more control over the characters and where they appear. I can't quite tell if this process is faster but I'm sure it'll get easier the more often I do it.Mystery Kids Page 56

Dipper and Mabel Pines, as well as several other characters and the location this comic is set in are all from the show "Gravity Falls", Norman and Neil are from a film called "ParaNorman", Coraline and Wybie are from a film called "Coraline" - in fact the main villain in this particular story is actually from the same film. All are definitely worth a watch. Raz and Lili are from a game called Psychonauts which is also pretty good.

(Also sorry, Dipper is snooping on her computer when they are looking for a doll? Kinda seems dicky to me. Β XD Even though he probably will find something on the computer. Because it's possible with the other mother working with bill cipher she could be spying on the kids differently. So yeah. But still I found it kinda weird of Dipper to go straight to the computer. XD)

Yeah it does seem a little snoopy but in all fairness, five kids are missing and Dipper - being the logical person he is - suspects that whomever is responsible may have spoken with the missing girl and convinced her to meet up somewhere, thus the Mystery Kids gain a valuable clue. As far as Dipper knows, they are most likely dealing with a human being, since Coraline hasn't told him about the Beldam.
But yeah, it does seem a little snoopy.

I think at the moment Coraline is in a state of denial. On the one hand Norman has had a vision about something that she had never told him about - the button eyes. That, coupled with the fact that kids have gone missing, leads her to suspect the Beldam's involvement but she doesn't want that to be the case.
Now she's looking for the one other thing that will prove without a doubt that the Beldam has returned - the doll.
It was a pretty traumatic thing for her to go through and I don't think it's something she wanted to really talk about, I also suspect that she thought she was completely over it. Now - several years after the event - kids are going missing again and it's brought all of these feelings back to the surface again.
On top of that I think she even feels partly responsible for the disappearances if it does turn out that the Beldam is behind it.

I loved inside out and when I was getting the reference for Sadness, I came across a plague version which was too cute not to have so I bought her. She even has her cute sweater :3

Huh, that's a fair point. I hadn't actually thought about that either. Originally I was just having Norman ask the question as a means of getting Coraline to explain to the others about the doll with the button eyes. I imagine after all of this, none of them will ever look at button eye dolls the same way lol

When I was in Brighton I went to this comic book shop and they had the Coraline Button eye doll on display, I had a mind to buy it but then I didn't want to get the Beldam involved in my life.
Yeah, they're real creepy. I saw these dolls on TV once, I can't remember what they're called but they had buttons for eyes too and it made me think of Coraline.
