I really like this one! I especially like the placement of the colours - it's very thoughtful! I like how Toriel's dress is a lighter purple, and so placed on the darker end of the spectrum. I realise that it may not have been a concious choice - maybe you just had to put her at the edge of the frame, but it makes her dress stand out very well despite also being purple. I think you could've gone a bit darker with the gradient of Sans' side - he doesn't stand out as well as Toriel, but that was probably hard to do because of his pose. Toriel's fire also doesn't stick out, although again, it'd be hard to make it do that. My tip for fixing that is to increase the line weight on things you want to stand out - feel free to completely ignore that, though! You have a realistic style that goes best with thin lines, so thick lines might not work. The crying is also a little off, imo. A few crying tips:
- People's faces usually flush when they're crying. Sans has bones and Toriel has fur, so that might not apply.
- Crying usually follows the shape of the face and then drips off the chin Here's a good ref: www.pinterest.ca/pin/637751997…
(Also I think you forgot to colour in between Toriel's ankles)

I did not expect to get such detailed and helpful criticism on a piece like this lol thank you so much.
And line weight is a good idea, I'll be sure to keep it in mind!
Also, the fact you've mentioned my inability to draw tears twice now really says a lot. I'll be sure to study that!
Also, for the Toriel contrast thing, I used a different colour to shade underneath the dress than for the background. On her dress, I used blue, and in the background, I used black to make the shading stand out. I'm glad it wasn't obvious!
