“Just another day on the job.” Mary thought to herself as she was tied to a hospital gurney. This is not how she hoped her day would turn out.

This all started a few days ago. She had heard rumors of several women disappearing from some of the lower-income neighborhoods. The type of women who could be easily missed by society. There were three women in particular, Shanice Scott, Evelyn Lamb, and Janet Howe, who had the most connections in their disappearances. All the disappearances were reported by friends and not by family or partners and no one was giving information. This seemed like an excellent opportunity for Mary. No one seemed to be covering the story, and besides the chance to find these missing women, a Pulitzer may be a possibility, if she played her cards right.

Going to the various locations where these women were last seen and even visiting the victims' homes. She also interviewed the family members and partners, but they seemed reluctant to provide any information. Mary came to realize that none of these family members or partners were the ones who reported the disappearances, with friends of the women being the ones who reported it. They did not see the disappearances as worrying, saying they would be back soon. Besides this strange connecting factor, the other similarity that was worth investigating was that all of them had a business card for a 'Grossett Therapeutic Medical Office'. She had never heard of this place, but figured it was the best lead she had. Mary wrote down the address, notified her office and proceeded to the location.

The office looked to be brand new, if not rather stark with white walls and furniture. An empty receptionist desk stood behind a sliding glass window. A front desk bell sat on counter. Mary rang the bell, and almost instantly a deep voice yelled “Coming!”. After about two minutes a short man in a white lab coat walked out the door and introduced himself “Why hello there, Miss. You may call me Doctor Grossett, I am the owner and lead medical professional of this establishment. To whom do I have the pleasure of talking to today?”

Considering that this was the the main lead today and she didn’t want the doctor to be suspicious, Mary decided to play it coy “Hello, my name is Mary and I was interested in your therapeutic services.” The doctor seemed surprised, but gave a warm smile. “Well, we are a bit booked, but I do have a few minutes so would you be open to a consultation?” Mary nodded in response, figuring that she could still make a break for it as long as she was careful...
