Description The Cheyenne were originally two different tribes calle Suhtai and Sutaio and have since been split into 5 different bands as they call them which is a smaller tribe, these Bands range from Montana to the Blackhills where Mount Rushmore is to Oklahoma and Colorado. The Cheyenne were a huge player in Battle of Little Bighorn and the uprisings of the plains Indians during the 1880s and that's where Wolf Robe gets his Indian peace medal from for moderating peace talks between the plains Indians and the US government.

The Cheyenne differentiate themselves from the other plains Indians by typically adopting more blues and greens in their beading and regalia but I believed in this picture that Wolf Robe was wearing red because the binding style of the hair was a common fashion for Native American men always done in red to signify red men.

A lot of Westerns or old West movies depict a certain piece of Cheyenne and Arapaho history out of the 1850s and 60s where during the Colorado gold rush White settlers were increasingly searching for gold in what was then unarguably Cheyenne and Arapahoe Territory. Without even mentioning the tribes in most of the movies if you watch an old Western where they're looking for gold and getting shot up by Indians then this is the Colorado Gold Rush of 1859. 🐔
From this picture about 6 years later Wolf Robe passes away kn Oklahoma on the Cheyenne and Arapaho reservations so I like to show these pictures and not the ones 3 or 4 years later when his health is obviously declining.
