I'll defs bookmark your blog now and see because srsly, this is gonna be EPICZ >D

Oh and btw, I have no idea what needlefelting is. I don't get it D: LOL! What is it? I don't think we have anything like it here..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheHarley In reply to Fluttur [2011-05-03 18:30:40 +0000 UTC]

XD oh yes it will...

Most people don't know what needlefelting is, no matter where they're from lol. I'd assume it'd be easier for you to do because most of the wool I order comes from YOUR COUNTRY ROFL... it's basically just a process in which you take wool roving and stab it over and over again with a felting needle (a sharp needle, two times longer than a sewing needle, with little knotches out of it)... I have a bunch of needle felted things in my gallery

You could make Umbreon without the needlefelting, it was just easier for me to do it this way.

Fluttur In reply to TheHarley [2011-05-04 04:03:54 +0000 UTC]

SERIOUS? I've seen so much of it on DA D: LOL!
SERIOUSLY!? Well we have enough sheep, but I didn't know it's where you got most of it. Wow XD! And yeah I've seen your needle felted stuff, it's what made me think xD So what's a wool roving? Just the wool packs you buy basically? How do you get it to form the shape? Especially in your case with the little pokemon you've produced and stuff? As for the needle, I don't know if I've even ever seen one like it D: LOL!

YEAH! I know, I was just curious about what it was in case I wanted to try XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheHarley In reply to Fluttur [2011-05-04 13:50:07 +0000 UTC]

Haha well, most people I talk to know nothing of it.
YUP. That's where the BEST wool comes from. I special order it from New Zealand all the time Yup it's just the wool packs that you buy. You get it to form the shape by stabbing it and having all the fibers intertwine... it makes the wool more compact/less airy... and you just add more pieces of wool in certain areas to build it up. (it's very time consuming)
Here's a picture of some [link]

Oooh I see ^.^

Fluttur In reply to TheHarley [2011-05-04 23:53:56 +0000 UTC]

LOL! YAY NZ! We make most of our money from dairy and wool... Fancy that XDD!!!
Dude it sounds awesome D: WHY DON'T WE HAVE THE NEEDLES DDD<
So you just.... get a whole bunch of wool and scrunch it up a bit and do it bit by bit? If you need more in one part you cut off a bit and prick it?

ANDAND
I got Amphy today omfggg <333333 TY!!! He's in good condition and everything >D A lot harder than I'd expected at first, is that in the wool or the stuffing? I have pillow stuffing and cheap nylon-y wool according to my mum which makes it softer.. .__. LOL! For some reason I especially love the eyes on it though <3 DEFINITELY BETTER IRL >DDD TY <3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheHarley In reply to Fluttur [2011-05-05 00:46:43 +0000 UTC]

I had to buy the needles online for it...
But yes, thats pretty much it... lol. You just get a bunch of it and scrunch it up and stab it over and over... it takes a while. I rip off bit by bit and layer it on my initial part and stab it into the first part...

yay!!! I'm glad he got there okay ^.^ ... it's because of the yarn I used and the stuffing I used. You're mom's right. The cheap nylon type wool makes it softer... I have a hard time finding the right colors for what I want to make, so I settle for any type of yarn/wool I can find that matches XD... I'm glad you like him ^.^

Fluttur In reply to TheHarley [2011-05-05 01:44:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh serious.. LOL! Well it sounds interesting either way!!
OOH FF That sounds socool D< It adds a really nice shiny feel to the Umbreon I feel as well, so maybe I'll see if I can find something << >> Did you just wrap the wool around the ears and stuff and stab or did it off of it?

Aaah yeah!! I do as well since where I live there's only a small wool shop down the road D< But yeah. All's good! You used a really good yellow /jealous DDD< It's inspired me that I have to finish my Pikachu though LOL! And my mother started a shiny Amphy ages ago that she hasn't finished for me so I'm prodding her to get that done xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheHarley In reply to Fluttur [2011-05-05 01:59:18 +0000 UTC]

Yup that's how I did it... just wrapped the wool around the ears and stabbed it

Yeah, I have a craft store that used to be right down the road, but it moved to like 7 miles away... but it's down a highway so it only takes like 10min to get there...but still. They have very few brands to select from, but thankfully I build up stock of many different colors. You should see my yarn collection XD *pokes* do itttt, finish Pikachu!

Fluttur In reply to TheHarley [2011-05-05 02:15:50 +0000 UTC]

AAH. I think I shall have to experiment or even see if there's anywhere I can buy a stabby stabber needle >D

Aaah I see, yeah. Kinda the same as me but the shop is literally the size of my room, it's tiny .__. LOL BUT OH WELL! I shall get there >D
OMFG you should take a photo of your yarn collection, srsly. I only have a few in a bag.. hahah. I bet yours would be ten times bigger
I SHALL!!! >D And again, thank you!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheHarley In reply to Fluttur [2011-05-05 14:39:13 +0000 UTC]

I wish you luck!

Oh goodness... that does sound tiny. I'm just lucky to live in an area where they believe in "SUPER STORES" so I can at least buy the things I need.
hahaha okay, I'll take a picture of it and upload it to my scraps
Wooooo! You're very welcome!

I've been wanting to learn how to crochet (my grandmother made doilies and afghans) but I want to make plushies. I will keep an eye out for your next Eeveelutions and the patterns, as I would like to try to make one too.

TheHarley In reply to HyperSonicFire15 [2011-05-02 12:37:25 +0000 UTC]

I think plushies are more fun to make, since you work "in the round" and just crochet in a circular way (to give it the 3D) shape. I tried making a blanket, but well... it's still a work in progress lol. I think Espeon might be the easiest one to make because of the color and smooth body shape. If Umbreon wasn't black, I'd say Umbreon would be the easiest to make. I'll definitely have to make the patterns new user friendly, since there are a lot of people who want to learn to crochet just to make them ^.^

HyperSonicFire15 In reply to TheHarley [2011-05-02 17:00:52 +0000 UTC]

Would you explain what you mean by "in the round"? I have a gradual idea, but a bit more info would be appreciated.

I honestly (at the moment) know nothing of crocheting, like I said, my grandmother was the crochet person. (Sadly, she passed away in September, so I cannot ask her for help anymore)

My mom is supposed to teach me the basics, but after that I have to figure out the rest on my own.

I look forward to the tutorials. <3

TheHarley In reply to HyperSonicFire15 [2011-05-02 17:58:32 +0000 UTC]

In the round basically means that instead of crocheting across a row, turning your work, then crocheting back across that row (to make a flat piece of work)...you crochet in a circular way, so there isn't a turning point, it's like crocheting in a spiral to form a 3d object. This link kind of explains it ([link] ) but they start out with a chain of stitches instead of a magic circle. I like magic circles ([link] this is the best tutorial I've found that teaches you how to make a magic circle) because they allow you to crochet "in the round" without leaving a hole in the center of your work. ^.^

I think it's very easy to learn, as long as you are patient. I'm sorry for your loss =/

Like I said, I only use single crochet stitches and decreases (which is just crocheting two stitches together) in these patterns (so far). They're the two basic stitches that everyone should know when they crochet. So your mom should be able to teach you how to do these.

Hopefully I'll get the first two up today!
