James the Red Engine Pack (Trainz 2009 onwards)

Remember when you were in those first few years of school and there was some kind of tradition or unwritten rule where if a boy or a girl had school on their birthday, they had to bring in giant bags of off-brand sweets and make all their friends (and kids they didn’t like) hyperactive in time for Humanities in the afternoon? This is kinda what I’m doing here: Jonuary release. I have no idea if everything required is here. Or if everything works. Er, MASS BETA TESTING I GUESS.

Includes:

    ·         James locomotive and tender in various schemes: black with red lining; unlined red; blue with red lining; red with black lining; red with blue lining. These have been created as new versions and therefore should easily overwrite the existing Jameses if you have either of the previous two releases (the old Tickled Pink and Green Controller versions should not be affected, but these may be improved and replaced in a second James-themed release).

Also includes the bogies required for the different liveries, brakepipe attachment (also a new version to overwrite existing asset) and headcode lamp. CDP includes dependencies created by other users, which can be removed from the download by request of their creator if it is wished that they are not redistributed.

If you have any issues with the models working, do let me know (on SI3D Forums, DeviantArt or Channel TST Wikia) though realise I am working only with knowledge of Trainz 2009, and attempts have already been made to fix any such issues found on later versions during beta testing. I will make my best effort to aid in resolving other issues.

My rules on reskinning allow modifications to be made in pursuit of getting more enjoyment out of my content; my rules on redistribution are simply “do not”.

Just tried to install them on my own copy of TANE and I'm seeing errors regarding tag 'image' and nonexistent files, so I'm assuming those are the errors you're getting?

It looks like this can be fixed though, by editing the config and removing the 'thumbnails' section. I'm only getting warnings after that, but unfortunately I can't run TANE itself to check if any other issues persist.

My engines dont work cause my AJS Superscript (i think thats how its called) is faulty because one unknown asset

Any way to fix it?

Apologies for the late reply. Not really sure how to fix this as I've never dealt with AJS Superscript, so I assume it's one of the external dependencies causing the issue. Is there a KUID for the unknown asset (unless it's completely unknown...)?

Oh well,I kinda fixed the problem whit the AJS Superscript and the problem now is textures,These are the errors i get

Okay, this has been pretty common and is fairly straightforward to fix if you can open the config in Content Creator (Plus). If you can only edit it in Notepad it's still fixable but CCP is cleaner at getting rid of chunks of config.

Basically, the part of the config headed 'thumbnails' in CCP is not needed, and is causing the errors by trying to find images that do not exist (this part of the config is a leftover from whatever config template I started using back in 2008 or whenever). You can either remove the 'thumbnails' container completely (right-click and Remove) or go into 0, 1 and 2 each and change 'image' to an existing image file, such as one of the textures. 

I think I usually just tell people to remove 'thumbnails' altogether but I guess it's good to have the option if at some point you wanted to add thumbnails yourself and make the assets easier to spot in Surveyor/Driver.

Let me know how it goes, or if my typically-wafflesome explanation needs improving.

I can see where it says thumbnail in the config but I can't edit it there. I can edit it in notepad form or in the CCP but I can't find the thumbnail part when I open it with those. Help please

The configs for the engine assets don't seem to mention shadows anywhere - I used to put shadows on my models but they didn't work as expected so I stopped and undid the ones I'd added - so I'm not really sure what to suggest. The only potential issue I found at all was that the engine asset configs all had a thumbnails section for no reason (and that's caused problems for my content before) but I doubt that would throw this error if that was the cause here.

Well, if there was a section of the config - as there sometimes is - looking for a shadow mesh that would throw out an error (and I've made mistakes like that before) but as far as I can see with James literally nothing on the asset side in the config mentions a shadow mesh (therefore, the asset should at no point be concerning itself with a shadow) which makes it odd that the error says it 'requires' one.

Which version of Trainz are you running? I doubt it would be the case but it might be compulsory for all assets in that version to have a shadow mesh. Since there's nothing in the config (on the local side) that's really all I can think of now.

i draged the file to my windows explorer and then i open my TANE menage content and i draged it, it said it as 0 errors and 36 warnings
