Description Commission for ^_^ It's Emma Bessho from the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime.

My first simple deviantArt commission, which is a refreshing change from drawing detailed backgrounds. XD
Also, Emma's hair was fun to color.

Another high-gloss production of yours that looks really vibrant, thanks to the great use of colors. I also like the intricacy in the rope work, and how the ropes are pressing into the leather of what appears to be biker suit. Very nice details indeed.

Must be refreshing doing a piece that does not require an intricate background Still, you manage to give the piece a bit of depth and dimension with the chair and the shadow. When it comes to the shadow, however, you might want to try the following trick. We may not use the same digital tools, but perhaps you can find a similar technique with the tools you are using. I myself use Paint SAI, and create a shadow as follows. I basically create a copy of the silhouette of what I want a shadow of, on a separate layer. I then select this shadow and use an option that allows me to scale and transform this silhouette. This allows me to move and stretch the shadow in various ways. I can thus create a shadow which I can stretch and manipulate to fit in relation to the background, while still being relatively accurate to the subject on which it is based.

Ah. I wanted to download SAI, but unfortunately Macs don't support it. As a former PC user for 20 years, it makes me incredibly sad. I use Clip Studio Pain (a.k.a Manga Studio) and it produces incredible line work, which I'm still trying to master.

I've always had issues with creating shadow, so I very much appreciate this trick. I'm being commissioned for another Emma drawing with another character, so I'll definitely try this technique in this next one as well. Thanks again for your kind critiques!

Critiqueing your work is my pleasure. The experience is made even more rewarding by the fact that you take the comments seriously and put them to practice. I am particularly thrilled that I can actually be of help to such a talented artist.
