Description
A little something something I whipped up during the wee hours of last night, refined it a bit today too. Tried out an experimental way of texturing as well as some single layer painting with this one."
1 - We have received the reports on the latest drone strikes.
2 - You better have good news in that folder.
*short pause as papers are shuffled*
1 - ...Yes, the records show that the drones managed to wipe out the surface of the earth mostly clean with a modified napalm mix.
2 - What do you mean mostly?
*audible inhale*
1 - Sir, reports from the army tell that the problem may not be on top of the ground and instead below it. The city itself showed very little signs of the organism after the bombing, but the tunnels, and with a heavier emphasis, the sewers are completely flooded with the stuff, so much so that the robots are unable to be retrieved from there. Even worse is that a few of the reports outline the fact that in some areas the ground has simply crumbled beneath their feet and caused them to fall down underground.Β
*Short pause*
1 - We have to take immediate action now. We haven't the slightest idea how far it may have had already spread underground, we must evacuate the neighboring cities.
2 - This information does not leave this room. I will make sure all the required precautions are taken.

Set up a ring of nuclear weapons around the city, buried beneath the ground and detonate them. The explosion should be contained underground, and should produce enough heat and radiation to kill this thing before it spreads too far. Beyond that, I can't see a way of stopping it.

While I must admit this idea isn't terrible, I think you're severely underestimating theΒ power you're dealing with... (Two words- Nuclear Dust!)

That's why I suggested underground detonations, to reduce any nuclear fallout that may occur. It's not like we're all gonna head back to the hot-zone (except for bio-hazard teams possibly) for anything, so the damage to other regions should be minimal

They are still huge, actually water is better than ground because the shockwave has to switch from water to air, which takes a lot of energy. Underground you will just make a nuclear sandstorm, it might be more damaging when buried, like dynamite, it is essentially useless unless buried!

Fallout works by launching radioactive debris miles into the atmosphere, an underground blast would contain most, if not all of the radioactive materials beneath the surface (depending on depth and how big the nuclear weapon is). It will collapse any tunnels this stuff creates, probably instantly killing anything within the short range of the blast, and the radioactivity may act as a DMZ for it.
Honestly, this stuff is so goddamn dangerous that anything less than WMDs is asking for destruction.
I say we take off, and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure

When I originally posted the critique I thought the city was still populated!Β I was going to say that the nuclear weapon would destroy the city but if that the point than your plan is probably the best thing, either that or just drop so much napalm down there that theΒ earth turns to lava!

Well, it is possible that there are survivors in the city. Even this stuff will have a hard time killing the best of us. We humans are exceptionally durable, maybe not on par with this thing, but I'd bet a few bucks that there are survivors running around in that city.

Hey, the required precautions could be drowning himself in whisky as everything falls apart.
Thanks dude, this type of a brood is a bit different from the regular ones where there are a lot of plants and such, as this type is much more focused on consumption than production, as there is a surplus of biomass down in the sewers and being out of sight like that allows it to grow without too many restrictions.
