I was a principal background painter/designer on The Dragon prince for about 2 and a half years and in light of season 3's release it was hugely gratifying to see all that hard work come to fruition and BOY does season 3 look way better than I could have imagined. I was really worried about the technical and budgetary limitations of the show but it's clear they went all out and did it justice. (I was at work today and binge watched the entire season and I had made a conscious effort [or I'm just a lazy employee... you decide] to avoid reading scripts or watching more of the storyboard than I had to to get the context for the backgrounds I was working on SO I was essentially able to watch the series as if it was all brand new to me.

I wonder if sometimes you spend hours and hours on a background like this, and then you watch the series, and the background stays for about 5 seconds max, Hahhah

Okay, wow. I just binge-watched the whole series and now I'm re-binge-watching it because it's really well done. But I had no idea you had been working on it, and I find myself bemused at the odds that an artist I follow has worked on a show I'm now gushing over.

Is dragon prince the anime like show on Netflix where the humans who r steal the egg from the elves who r like.. Scottish lol?? The audience it serves seems intended for younger ppl. Iβll say this much, the weapon fights are really good. Not martial arts genre anime good, but entertaining enough

The animation quality, I think, is really good, but the thing people don't like about it is the low frame rate. Personally I thought it was fine but I guess I can understand why people didn't like it. That said The animation was smoothed out for the second and third seasons.

I just watched the first episode and you're absolutely right. The animation is beautiful, just not so fluid, but that's not a big deal for me either.

i hope so too! it was over way too quickly again! I'm really picky when it comes to animation and art style and this show just nails it for me, including your awesome background art
