Aquarius, coloured pencil and watercolour, 11" x 14".As Aquarius is co-ruled by Uranus (the future, modernism, science, etc.) and Saturn (the past, structure, tradition) I have tried to incorporate elements of both (e.g. the thick stone wall with a bright, abstract geometrical mural).

Well done, it's so soft and blended I wouldn't say it's pencil colored.

The white was meant to be static electricity - unfortunately, the white of paper (which was the palest thing I could manage in this medium) doesn't quite emit the glow that is needed to convey that. If I ever end up near Photoshop someday, I might see if I can spark some life into them.

Thank you! I'm glad you like the combination (pencil/watercolour). I know it's not conventional, but the one drawback of working in coloured pencil is that highlights are difficult to maintain. It's often easiest to whip out the paints for lighter layers over the otherwise finished product.

myself is using aquarell pencils, the coloring of the pencil is intens and with a little moistbrush i make the color blend smoothly, but as you said, there are purist who fanaticly preach otherwis,

I am - there is a 'Zodiac' folder in my gallery with those I've done so far (not in order; just as the inspiration strikes me, so Aries, Leo, Capricorn and all of the water signs have yet to appear there, as I'm still working on ideas or finding good reference images

Hehe. Thanks! I do have a Libra up - it was one of the first in the series I did ('The Scales' [link] ) but now that so many more solid and colourfully vibrant following it, I'm tempted to rework it. Perhaps a night-sky background and some foliage growing up the statue's base ...

Very striking! The reflection in the water is especially nice around the arch, and I adore the colours in the wall.

Thank you! The colours really chose themselves... It was going to have a night sky colour scheme (blues, teals, black), but the picture insisted on being bright and unpredictable as it developed. I do enjoy it when the image takes over and I just go along for the ride - This is one of those.
