Hello from a.deviantart.net/avatars/p/r/pโ€ฆ " alt=" " title="ProjectComment" /> e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/bโ€ฆ " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="367" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

There are a few things that jump out to me right off the bat with this one. First, the character's face; it is startling to see at first, and is genuinely creepy. The mask (her face?) contrasts with the rest of the design nicely to create that life/death duality, which I really and creates a nice iconic image for the character. The other thing that strikes me is the flourish of flowers that the character is whisking up into their hand, the pattern is drawn really well and you can tell exactly what the subject is doing, which to me is some sort of life taking magic.

Another thing I really start to think about is the world this character lives in, and where they come from and what kind of status that they have there. I am a sucker for worldbuilding, and perhaps this is from some other mythology that I'm unaware of, or just one of your creation, but I am having a fun time thinking about this character's place there. Are they a god? Are they a completely supernatural entity? An idea or concept? Are they a character that is carrying out the will of a god? So many possibilities, and that's just from looking at the character and their title.

A few things that could work well is tattoos on the character, signifying more of this mythology and where they come from. The lowest score I have to give on this piece is the technique of the inking, which seems very thick and heavy handed, which serves to drown out some of the detail, especially on the subject's face/mask area and the magic in the right hand. A smaller pen size or finer lines could help this a bit.

Other than that, I love the character design and would love to know more about this character's world! Good work.

Iยดm from

This design is majestic and terrifying, but in the good sense of the word.

With that head similar to a lion and that has an expression xquisita, a dress well achieved, an impeccable delineate ... The drawing itself is very clean and neat.

Anatomically it is excellent, the details are exquisite and the shape that handles the flowers (As I understood it) gives me the feeling that I love this character in itself
I would like to know if you really do not plan to make a story with him? Because it's perfect for a story with this character and I'm almost sure with the others you have.

But without a doubt, you did an incredible job. Congratulations!ย

She's actually supposed to be one of three (though arguably Varset could be counted as two individuals and that case four) deities worshiped by a distantly primate species that evolved from the ruins of a failed human colony on an alien planet.

They think that whomever created life was the same person who created death and see both acts (giving birth and killing people) as distinctly feminine, though to be fair they're a somewhat violent matriarchy so they see all 'higher powers' as feminine anyway. Varset is at present seen as a combination of male and female deities, but originally they were both female and it was changed at about the same time that homosexuality became a matter of public contention after the gay community more or less claimed Varset as a symbol of their lifestyle.

None of their deities actually exist but they're symbolic of different conflicts within their society and are often used as a justification for holding a questionable code of ethics. Avola is primarily the one used for this, as Varset is seen as somewhat of a hippie and none of their scrolls contain anything bigoted, violent or contentious while nobody wants anything to do with Phiede and will attack anyone that interprets her scrolls for fear that they will be cursed with death or infertility for the crime of being a witness to a lie in her name and doing nothing. In some subcultures it's taboo to read any of her works out loud, and in other's it's taboo to discuss anything having to do with her for fear of spreading lies. Avola is thus the only one really used by charlatans that want to push an agenda.

This is all background stuff in a book that I've been working on for a couple years now. The comic series I'm doing also ties into it and serves to fill in some background info that doesn't fit well within the actual book in terms of narrative structure.

This looks cool. I'm getting a mythic vibe from this.
