So I have the luck of being part of a custom playing cards project, in which 54 street artists (atleast the majority are) have been invited to create their own playing card to be part of a deck.However this isn't my card, you'll see that when it's all done and printed. This is infact my suggestion for the cover of the deck's packaging and I'd be psyched for this to be used. It seems the deck will remain without a title, so a striking image is vital for the identity of the decks.
I had to spray paint some adult playing cards (given as a gift, I assure you) to use in the shot since I didn't want to ruin any of my decent decks, haha.

You and me both, I think the deck has an artwork deadline of 15th of October so it'll probably be a month after that when the decks will appear.

Okay, I really like the image, it's great and the latex glove is a great subtle reference to street art. The lighting is fantastic and the colors are great. The only thing I would change is the scope of the image, I think it would look better focused in on the hand. Maybe even cut off the hand at the wrist and move in on all sides appropriately to keep it proportional. I just think that the arm is a little distracting from the image of the spray paint and hand, which are meant to be (or at least seem to be meant to be) the focus of the image. I think you should at least consider the more focused image, I think it could make it much stronger.

So would you suggest a tighter cropping of the image? I'll try that out but I like the inclusion of the arm as it lends the image a stronger human element but I understand what you mean about the distraction. A more cropped image wouldn't have such a sleak and elegant (or atleast that's what I see, haha) feel to it and neither do I want to cramp the cover. There's a positive correlation between the amount of negative space and the quality of the product, which is what I'm after.

tighter cropping is exactly the way to put what I couldn't put concisely. I think that cropping it down would make it more neat, but I see what you mean about the negative space, you don't want to overcrowd the shot and create an overabundance of object. That said I feel like the image is simple enough that it would still work. I don't know, play around with it and see what you come out with. I do like the negative space, but I feel like the arm traveling down to the edge pulls the viewer away from the central image rather than towards it.

anyway, this is a great concept, and the lighteing and focus are spot on. very proffessionally done. the only thing i would change was the latex glove. i think just a bare hand would be better.

Don't worry your horny little head, I chose the cards that were my least favourite, hah.
The glove has a great texture to it that I just wouldn't have got with my own skin.

The deck is graffiti artists working on playing cards, conceptually it's a straight forward image. Paint + cards = this

it's some SUPERBE red splats on the black card! and the whole thing is very appealing, in a creepy-nice way
