Short History:

The Praetorian was originally design by Valus Tolkava, president of Valus Corporation. He was meant to be the weapon of the United States of America; but failed during a test trial when he killed a U.S. Marine. Valus instantly scrap the idea and went on to work on a new machine. Somehow, the plans of Praetorian got to Tom Robertson, founder of Robertson Industries. As they looked through the plans, they were making different modifications and came to the final product. Instead of making him a weapon, they decided to make him a protector. Of one of the many modifications they done, was giving him FREEDOM. Model C.4.L.V.1.N. became the first robot to have the ability to think for himself.

Robertson's test trial was for Praetorian C.4.L.V.1.N. to roam the city of Haven and stop crime. Surprisingly enough, Praetorian C.4.L.V.1.N. prove to be extraordinary. But something unexpected happen, there was a fire at an Foster home and rumors were that one kid was still in the building. Praetorian C.4.L.V.1.N. had to be sure if there was one and went willingly in to the burning building. After five minutes, Praetorian C.4.L.V.1.N. came out with a eight year old girl in his arm, alive. When the paramedics patched her up, the girl, Elizabeth, thanked Praetorian C.4.L.V.1.N. for saving her. He said it was duty to protect the innocence and moved on.

But when she asked what was his name, he gave her his model number. Elizabeth really didn't liked the name much and decided to call him Calvin. Deep down in Calvin's system, something clicked. The system begin to form that no other machine has ever formed: emotions. From then on, Calvin became attach to Elizabeth and became a father figure to her. Robertson and his people were dumbfounded when this happen. They could not believe that they created a machine that can feel human emotions. So they decided to go back to the Praetorian's plan and see how they done this.

News came out when Calvin saved a child from the burning foster house and Robertson saying it was his idea to create a machine that was design to protect. Valus, on the other hand, wasn't credited for the creation of Calvin. Fueled with hate and jealousy, Valus plans to destroy Calvin by any means necessary. If he was able to force Calvin into killing a human being, Calvin will be destroyed by court orders. At this time, a robot killing a human being was against the law. So Valus begin to hire gang members to attack Calvin.

When the first gang members attacked Calvin, Elizabeth was caught in a cross fire between the two. So Calvin protected her from the gang members and fought them off with extreme rage. When the gang decided it was time to leave, one gang member was unfortunate enough to be left behind. When it seemed that Calvin was about to kill a human being, Elizabeth begged him to not to. She said that killing was wrong and no one deserve to die, no matter how wicked they are. So Calvin lets him go and took Elizabeth back to the new foster home. After the news came out, Valus had a better idea of how to finish Calvin. He was aiming at the wrong target.

On one fateful day, word came out that Elizabeth was missing. So Calvin started his search to find her. In the outskirts of the city in a desert, he found Elizabeth being run down by a biker gang. Calvin came between the two and told them to back off. They didn't listen and tried to kill Elizabeth. Calvin Went into "Bad Ass" mode and protected Elizabeth like never before. Any of the gang members that got too close, Calvin made sure that they will think twice about killing Elizabeth. Despite all of Calvin's abilities and strength, he was unable to save Elizabeth. When the bikers fled, Calvin begin to hunt them down. But before he did that, Calvin did the unexpected thing that only a human would do; he buried Elizabeth's body.

When Calvin found the gang's leader, the leader confess that Valus was the one who order to kill her. Fueled with rage and anger, Calvin let them go and marched to Haven. When he return to Haven, he was immediately gunned down by the police force and was sentence to be scrapped. Valus convince everyone that Calvin was the one who killed Elizabeth and that he should be destroyed. Tom Robertson didn't believed this and searched Valus's files. What he found was his dealings with different gang members, the order to kill Elizabeth, and building an unauthorized army of Praetorian. Robertson went to get Calvin and reprogrammed him. He asked Calvin to stop Valus from making his army. Calvin then went off to bring down Valus once and for all. But too late was he. Valus already released his army and he put the city on lock down. Calvin and members of the police then stormed their way to Valus's building, gunning down any robots in their way. When Calvin got to the entrance of the building, what he saw was unexpected. A machine three times his sizes and three times stronger, and was being powered by the one thing Calvin ever cared: Elizabeth.

Because Calvin protected Elizabeth from danger, he couldn't bring it to himself to kill her. So naturally, he got his ass kicked. Just when he was about to give up, he heard Elizabeth talking to him. She said, "It's okay." So Calvin brought himself to finish Elizabeth off. When he defeated her, Calvin hold her dying body in his arm saying, "Don't worry, everything is going to be okay." But she said, "Calvin, it's okay. I am just happy I got someone who I can call 'dad'." She died in Calvin's arm. As he set her down gently, he stormed his way up to the office to confront Valus. Just when Calvin was about to kill him, he heard a voice in his head. It was Elizabeth's voice. She said, "Don't." So Calvin brought Valus to the authorities alive. Valus was sentence to death by the court.

Haven cheered Calvin as their hero. He was honored by the president of the United States and members of the Justice League. Despite being crowned hero, nothing of that matter to him. All he wanted was Elizabeth to be with him.
