Yes, the patterns become more angular when he's angry or agitated, the swirls become really tight and compacted if he's feeling excited, they react in all kinds of ways.

Nope, it's all subconscious, though it's not always easy to tell what the swirls actually mean.

Also, I sometimes forget that Raven 's body isn't complete yet, so I really like the emptiness of the robe when he's lying down. It's a good visual reminder of his physical presence and lack thereof.

Of course, logically, I know I should leave you to your own devices, and write this fantastic story however you want. However, we're not dealing with logic; we're dealing with geeky insanity of doom.
