FHGHGH I am so glad you like these. <3 Thank you so much, dear!
Hee, Cai is... special. He's one of my oldest characters, and one of the most messed-up. x3 Probably started out as a Sue or annoying emo-kid, but I feel like he's grown since then, while still being... fucked-up. He's so fun to write and has a lot of really good memories attached, of old friends.
Clint Eastwood is also a special song to me. There's a lyric that kind of... sums up my entire feeling about spirituality and the universe in general, and that's what I kind of tapped into in the upper pic, just how peaceful and beautiful it is. I think that that song is written from the POV of the vital life force or energy that makes us all up - call it God, the spark of life, the neverending heartbeat-rhythm that we all dance to, whatever you like.
Allow me to make this childlike in nature:
'Rhythm, you have it or you don't!' - that's a fallacy!
I'M IN THEM, every sprouting tree, every child apiece..."
I just... that concept is so beautiful to me, and I embrace it with my whole heart. We all have rhythm. WE ALL HAVE WINGS. <3

Yeah! Everyone seems to think that the song is about drugs... which sort of makes sense with the chorus "sunshine in a bag", lulz. Though that could just mean... happiness.
But yeah, listen to/read the lyrics as like... them being spoken by if not God, then at least some LIFE FORCE or powerful being, even a trickster spirit, but something essentially good and life-filled that's in or around us all, that lets us see clearly. Lyrics like this make me think so:
"You think it's fictional? Mystical? Maybe. Spiritual hero who appears in you to clear your view when you're too crazy"
and
"You can see me now 'cause you don't see with your eyes, you perceive with your mind", and even "feelings, sensations that you thought was dead, no squealing, now remember, that it's all in your head!"
Which I take it to mean not that "you're imagining this", but again... It's all there inside you. "I'M IN THEM."

You know, I never thought it was about drugs! Maybe I'm a bit naive, but sunshine ina bag... because it's gorillaz, I thought of it literally, hahah

When I saw the tiny preview in my messages I was like "lol Virgil and Richie?" But it isn't lol.
BUT A CAI IS FINE TOO. <3333 I love him the most when he's being an emo kid. Which is probably an unhealthy portion of the time, aww, bb. <3 Also, I really like the way you did his hair. There is just something very... right about it. IDK how to put it, but the shading, and the shaping looks awesome to my eyes.

I. Love. The top. Panel. His hair (and the way it gets bunched under the headphones), the soft glow on his face, the simply-drawn cityscape, the colors of course... LOVE it.
Do you notice something about how you draw clothes, though? I notice that if you do simple shirts and things, you draw them as lines inside the form rather than setting on top or outside of it. That's cool -- but consistency matters in a picture! Look at "Phil's" scarf. On the left, it sits on top of his neck. But on the right, it becomes a part of his chest.
...Wait, does it? I'm looking at it again. It looks like it does because of the black line going from his neck on down, but then there are white lines contradicting that... A little confusing. Anyway, Cai can be used as an example of that too (his necklace vs. his shirt).
Dude I'm happy we'll be seeing more visual artz from ya this summer! Your writing is awesome of course, but I can never say anything besides that in comments At least I can help you our here.

Thank ye so much, hon! :3 I'm really happy ye like it.
D: He makes me sad too. But then he makes up for it by being a sarcastic smartass-with-a-heart-of-gold who makes me lul and d'aww. He tries hard. And often is full of fail. But always tries again.

This is wonderful work. Your drawing style is excellent and is enhanced phenomenally by your advanced understanding of color, light, and shadow. Speaking of Phil Lamar - check your e-mail

You want to be better at drawing? Hey, I wish I could draw like you. This is amazing.
Actually, do you have any off-hand advice for me? Because I really want to be able to shade things and draw as great as you do. :3

x3 OH YES. But still, it's no fun to listen to that. I try not to. Because it makes me sound like I know everything and I SO DO NOT.
But yeah. One of my favorite parts is sometimes using unexpected colors for shading, like if you're shading skin, don't forget about purples and grays and browns and blues, just try sticking some in until you find something you like. :3 There is zero limitation, and ALL experimentation and finding what looks good to you and having FUUUUN!
And on a small side note, the colors ye pick can really influence the mood, too. Cai's pretty much in a world of hurt right now, so I colored his skin with bruisey colors. :> If it looks painful, MY WORK IS DONE.
... Jeez, even in drawing I put my characters through hell.

XD In hell, I'd be reborn as one of your characters. Or heaven. I'm not too sure.
Also speaking of your characters! I was thinking about what you would be able to enter in the Gladiator thing. Why not Kismet in this too? I mean, look at her: [link] if it's just the left one, and a few slight chronological details were changed (although you CAN still time travel to Caelum if you can justify it, so you might not need to change anything), you'd be set!
Just a suggestion. :3

the closest I ever got to him was watching him on a panel with most of the futurama cast & crew at the San Diego Comicon.
