I switch between Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop CS5.
Oh! And sometimes OpenCanvas, but it's kinda outdated D:

Oh I don't really use anything too special, but I did tinker around a bit with the default acrylic paintbrush tool on the program Paint Tool SAI.

What I basically did is just removed the brush's texture and played with its blending settings a bit more.

I also used the default pen tool for the lineart. C:

I wish I could be more detailed, but I don't know the exact blending settings on my altered brush D: Since all my messing around was kinda random. D:

Yes, SAI is very nice especially for beginners like me
Very easy to understand, especially if you know how to use any other similar program. I guess I like it for its soft blending brushes which make it super easy to blend colors compared to Photoshop, which is a pain (imo).

I'm not really sure, but I think they offer a free trial. O:

I've been using Photoshop since the very start.

I'm curious after the blending settings. Wondering if they're similar to the 'Multiply, Overlay, ...' options Photoshop offers.

Looking at your gallery, I wouldn't quite call you a beginner oO

Ah no I guess I'm not a beginner now that I think about it.
I've been doing digital stuff since I was thirteen, but then I stopped using dA like a few months later, which made me stop working on my art. D:
But anyways, 5 years later I'm back on, and I'm practicing again. C:
Even though it's kinda like starting from scratch for me. D:

dA just keeps me motivated to keep going for some reason lol

But I'm really happy to be back C: The community is just as nice as ever C:

Omg, we share a similar "history". I stopped drawing for several years as well. I know how it feels having to pick everything back up. :/

But the good thing (imo) is that by seeing stuff, you can improve too! Only stuff like anatomy remains a pain after a long period of being inactive.

Looking at your work, I must say I'm glad you picked it back up. There are some really nice works in your gallery!

Anatomy is a serious problem for me when it comes to digital stuff because I really don't enjoy doing lineart at all.
I'm trying different techniques right now so I don't have to keep drawing lineart anymore
Pencil and paper is way easier for me orz

But, it's so easy to get inspired on here. C:

I know what you mean. It can be hard trying to get those contour-lines right on a tablet. Before you know, you end "smudging" character :s
(I made up that verb, from the 'smudge tool' in Photoshop.)

I also enjoy the coloring more than doing the lineart (both on paper or digital)!

Well, Illustrator is more like the kind of program you'd use to create logo's or anything else that has to be in vectors. Been used to it as I studied graphic design. I bet with some simple exercises you'd get the hang of Its most important functions
