Good evening
I'm in the process of planning a spot the difference flash game with a steam punk style.
Would you be interested in contributing some artwork towards the game?

so far so VERY VERY GOOD!
I would reccomend changing up the sidewalk texture a slight bit as it seems a bit distorted. Easily changed by how many times the texture repeats itself, but I'm impressed overall. Good work.

Great work! Have you seen Jeremy Engleman's tutorials on Gnomon? He has some out that deal with lighting scenes exactly like this. It would be well work the view.

I'm ashamed, I don't even know who this obvious genius is lol!
I've watched dozens of gnomon dvd's but only the 2D ones (concept art, digital painitng, design etc.....)
Do you know if I can download these 3D dvd's for free? I only found the 2D ones....

Gnomonology is great because you can purchase individual chapters. The last one is the one that will interest you. Though the last two are well worth the $8.00ea.
Also take a look here: [link]
Check out #4 for lighting. Not a 'tutorial' but well worth hearing why he's done certain things in his process. These are free. (smile)

You're way ahead of what I see in others work. But, you sound like me and are always looking for ways to do things better. (smile) I'm always checking out how others do things as it opens ideas for my own work. I think I pay the bills for many of those who have tuts on Gnomon. ha ha

WOW great! i like the syle and muted colors...even though its all maya phy sun, i would also light my scene, with some bounced light colors, and tone down the relfec on your metal shaders... maby with a fractal bump?.... Lighten up your bump on the curb, and ,maby add a bevel to its edge.... soften it...... too hard for somewhere where people walk allot.... Love to see some environmental atmo with some fog.... easy in maya... Then you would get some light god-rays. The car would be cool if it was in the cast light.. with some rad contrast to show the detail of the car model. And... maby some grass in-between the cracks in the road.. or somthing in the green pallet....
I'm no pro... i do work with maya doing video game commercials (just started), don't hesitate to get into characters!!!! should be learnin both at the same time to bridge the knowlage gap. Similar techneques that will build each other! I only learned 3D from scratch last year! Keep at it... gave allot of crit ciz its that close to fricken perfect.

This is really a fantastic piece, and congratulations on the DD. My only comment is that it could use a little life; characters would be ideal, but I imagine would ratchet the amount of work required up a significant amount. Something else organic other than people would work; someone mentioned steam, maybe clouds or fog, plant life of some kind. Anything to take the edge off the sterility.
It really is a fantastic piece though, very nicely done!
